Concerto for Trumpet, Trombone and 1000 Triangles

The Music Man Project perform a new composition “Concerto for Trumpet, Trombone and 1000 Triangles” ahead of their world record attempt later this year.  On October 15th, The Music Man Project will attempt a Guinness World Record for the largest ever triangle ensemble at the world-famous London Palladium theatre.

The Music Man Project introduces its music services for the learning disabled to the Royal College of Music outreach programme, RCM Sparks.

The Marathon Man

On Sunday 24th April 2016, Marc McOwens set out to complete the London Marathon – his fourth marathon run in 21 days.  Raising money for Southend Mencap, Marc tackled gruelling conditions in Paris, Manchester and Boston before arriving to greet The Music Man Project a mile from the London finish line.

Stop the Hate

We hear from VIP guests and senior officers, as students of The Music Man Project perform Hate Crime, The Musical at the annual Essex Police conference.

 

The Music March

Music Man staff and students take part in a marathon fundraising event, singing and playing throughout a 12.5 mile walk from Benfleet to Leigh on Sea.  They reach their destination eleven hours later, joining the festivities of the annual Christmas lights parade.

The Music Man

Southend Mencap Music School is a weekly provision enabling people with learning disabilities to socialise, perform and develop musical skills within a safe and welcoming environment.  This acclaimed 60-minute documentary follows the school during 2012, as it prepares to expand further afield as the ‘Music Man Project’.

24 Hours on the Pier

In April 2012, David Stanley and Liam Ambrose performed an astonishing 24-hour non-stop concert on the end of the world’s longest pier, raising funds for Southend Mencap Music School.
