Kathmandu, Nepal

Nepal Dolma Foundation

In July 2019, The Music Man Project visited Kathmandu, South Asia in collaboration with our international partner organisation,  Nepal Dolma Foundation.

The wonderful children from the Navjyoti Centre in Kathmandu put on a joyous and inspirational performance at the local British School in front of hundreds of parents, special guests and the British Ambassador to Nepal, Richard Morris. The children sung in two languages and signed and played music they had never heard before our visit. This was achieved after only six hours of teaching!

The children learnt to perform four items in preparation for their showcase concert at the British School – Hey There, Music is Magic, Liberty Bell and Peace Hope (in both English and Nepalise!). They all worked really hard and picked up the Music Man songs incredibly quickly.

During the trip, Music Man Project Founder David Stanley gave a presentation to Rotary Club of Kathmandu West. As an honorary member of Rotary Leigh on Sea, Essex and Paul Harris Fellow, David and the club president exchanged pendants and he spoke about ways local Rotarians support new Music Man Projects around the world.

Wherever you are in the world, be it in the UK, South Africa, India or now Nepal, music is magic!
