The Music Man Project Bristol and Bath
The Music Man Project Bristol and Bath launched in April 2018 (as MMP Keynsham). We knew we wanted to provide a new group for our adult members. Something around music, drama or performing arts. We weren't quite sure how or what it might look like until we attended a national Mencap networking conference in Liverpool. We got to meet lots of other groups from around the UK and we all shared information about the different services and projects we run. And that's where we met David Stanley and The Music Man Project. We knew we had found just what we were looking for! Shortly after we launched, we learned that David was planning a huge performance at the Royal Albert Hall for all regional groups – including Keynsham. The musicians worked really hard learning all of the core Music Man Project songs as well as all the new material written for the show. Exactly one year and one day since we launched, we were singing on the stage of the world famous Royal Albert Hall! Since then things have been anything but quiet. Our numbers have grown and the musicians have a busy diary of dates for performances. We receive many requests for performances and have joined a number of local choirs at concerts. We will continue to seek out performance opportunities for our musicians to showcase what they have achieved.
