From Classroom to Concert Hall: Accessible Music for Children
The Music Man Project delivers inclusive music education to school children of all abilities through original repertoire and unique performance opportunities. Founded in 2000 with our pioneering Saturday music school in Southend-on-Sea, The Music Man Project has grown into an international accessible education movement.
Today, we enrich the lives of children with learning disabilities through curriculum-based lessons, assemblies and musical ensembles at our partner special schools. We deliver workshops to pupils in both special and mainstream settings, featuring the famous Music Man Project Global Ambassadors. So far, these role model musicians have inspired over 20,000 children. We also champion teacher training, equipping educators with the skills and resources to deliver accessible music lessons in their own classrooms. Through practical guidance and ongoing support, we help schools embed inclusive music-making into everyday learning.
In his role as the UK Government’s Disability and Access Ambassador for Arts and Culture, David Stanley helped write the SEND section of the National Plan for Music Education and offers training and consultancy on the implementation of the plan.
The Music Man Project is proud to make music education truly universal.
